The pot wasn't seriously damaged, it only
had a minor crack on it. Li Four immediately set to
work and by blowing fire he quickly mended it. Wang
Long smiled in a coy manner to Lu Zhailang, and kept
shooting glances towards the room. |
The silver pot was fixed in the blink of
an eye. Afterwards, Li Four polished it so well, that
it showed the reflections of faces. He then
respectfully returned it to Lu. Lu Zhailang was very
pleased, and he at once ordered Wang Long to bring
some wine to give a few cups as a reward to Li. "Outstanding work! Wang Long, do we have
wine?" "We have, my lord!" |
Li, oblivious to their scheme, was moved
by this gesture and he quickly downed three large cups
of wine. Wang Long wanted him to keep drinking, but
hurriedly, Li declined: "Thank you for the reward, my
lord! Thank you for the reward, my lord!" |
Li politely refused the drink, which made
Lu Zhailang break out in roaring laughter. His men
followed his example, and soon, the entire shop was
filled by the sound of oppressive laughter. Li's wife
didn't know what was going on, so she went out to
check on things. |
Lu Zhailang suddenly stopped laughing
and ordered his men to grab Lady Zhang and take her
away. Wang Long, taking advantage of the upheaval
knocked out Li Four and dragged Lady Zhang out. Both
Xitong and Jiao'er cried out, and Lu Zhailang sent
them to the ground with a swift kick. |
Li rushed outside, but he only saw a
few horses galloping towards the North. In the
distance he could hear Lady Zhang's cries for help.
It felt like as if a knife was thrust into his
heart, and so Li Four, without a single care for the
children left in the house, set off on foot to
pursue the kidnappers. |
Jiao'er and Xitong cried and screamed
without end. They search far and wide, but their
mother was kidnapped, and their father ran off to
who knows where. "Mom!" "I want mommy!" – They both cried. |
The siblings searched the streets while
crying. Then, there came a sedan chair, but the two
paid no mind when the crier of the local yamen
shouted them down, they just kept on crying. |
The official sitting in the chair was
none other than the advisor to the Dragonpattern
Pavilion, Bao Zheng. He was just returning from
examining the city of Zhengzhou. He noticed the
siblings crying in the middle of the road, and
immediately stopped his chair to question the locals
on the matter. |
The people knew that Dragonpattern Bao
was an upstanding, selfless official who feared
neither power nor influence, and so they had the
courage to tell him the truth. Judge Bao fell into
deep thought, and then ordered his men to take
Jiao'er and Xitong back to the yamen with him. |
